Montessori Today
For over 100 years, Montessori has spread all over the world. Montessori lends itself to a global culture, since peace education, cultural awareness, and childhood development play a crucial role throughout the entire curriculum. Montessori has also grown in the past 100 years from strictly an early childhood program to programs designed for Infants and Toddlers, Elementary, and even Junior and Senior High Schools. Great strides have been made in Peace Education, Foreign Language curriculum, and cultural exchanges within the Montessori framework.
As Montessori continues to grow, the need for teachers does as well.
In 1929, Maria Montessori founded the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). In 1960, Nancy McCormick Rambush founded the American Montessori Society (AMS). These two organizations are the largest and most recognized organizations that offer Montessori Teacher Training. Trillium Montessori is an AMS Teacher training center for Early Childhood (3-6 year old) and Elementary (6-9 and 9-12 year old). If you feel you are interested in being a part of the growing and diverse Montessori program, please check out our information on teacher training or e-mail Iris Lee at training@tschool.org.
